MyConbini

Project Overview:

This e-commerce project, conducted in collaboration with "Myconbini," a Japanese Convenience Store in Berlin, aimed to enhance the online shopping experience for users by embodying the minimalist and modern aesthetic of Japanese convenience stores while providing a personalized shopping journey. The project was undertaken as part of an assignment by Ironhack and involved extensive research, persona creation, lo-fi and mid-fi prototyping, testing, and crafting high-fi designs to create a seamless and enriched user experience.

Problem Statement:

Japanese cooking enthusiasts seek a convenient and personalized shopping experience that allows them to effortlessly explore and purchase premium Japanese products while staying connected to Japanese culture. They require a platform that enables them to discover trending ingredients, make quick purchases, and enjoy a seamless shopping journey tailored to their preferences.

Challenges:

  • Time Constraints: The primary challenge faced in this project was time constraints imposed by school project deadlines. The limited timeframe necessitated thoughtful prioritization and balancing the need for comprehensive design with project deadlines.
  • User Navigation: Improving user navigation proved crucial, as indicated by desk research revealing significant user preferences for efficient search experiences. Crafting clear categories and optimizing navigation pathways while balancing the minimalist aesthetic posed challenges in aligning design choices with user needs.
  • Iterative Refinement: Despite rigorous testing and feedback collection, the iterative refinement process encountered limitations due to time constraints. Balancing the desire for comprehensive enhancements with the practicalities of project deadlines required strategic decision-making and prioritization.

Results:

The project culminated in a high-fi prototype that incorporated enhancements aimed at elevating the Myconbini experience:

  • User-friendly navigation with clear categories.
  • An engaging home page featuring key features.
  • An inspired section for beginners and regular users.
  • An efficient shopping system with intuitive tools.
  • Enhanced marketing for the Myconbini brand.
  • An updated design infused with Japanese culture.

Despite the prototype's incomplete state, the insights gained and implemented enhancements formed a robust foundation for future iterations. Testing played a pivotal role in observing user behavior dynamics, prompting iterative improvements and highlighting the importance of flexibility and a deep understanding of user interactions in crafting a user-centric experience.
